Sporting injuries are among the most common to
require assistance for rehabilitation to return to
full functional activity. At Husker Rehabilitation
and Wellness, we have everything we need to
support an athlete’s return from an acute injury
and restore them to full performance. We emphasize
closed chain functional exercises in our
functional gym; as well as testing and reproducing
multi-directional motions for strengthening and
stabilization. This returns the patient to his or
her respective sport not only faster, but stronger
as well.
Functional training and the return to sport-specific
activities is often the goal of our patients. Through the
use of the "functional gym", patients can train for their
specific sport in a controlled environment as they
continue to reach independence with their program. By
mimicking the specific sport, the therapist can identify
other weaknesses that must be addressed before the athlete
should return to full activity without restrictions. This
type of rehabilitation is unique to Husker Rehabilitation
and Wellness Centers.
We are trained in the proper use of multiple functional
sports braces. We will fine tune and make minor
adjustments to the braces for proper fitting as needed. We
also keep in stock the Protonics functional exercise knee
system, which is utilized for patella-femoral pain and is
now being used in rehabilitation of hip and lower back pain.
Functional exercises are utilized with all exercise
programs. This equipment is utilized for functional
throwing and for strengthening the stabilizers of the
shoulder blade and upper back for injuries to this region.
Husker Rehabilitation and Wellness Centers has multiple
state of the art cardiovascular and strengthening
machines. There is ample room between all machines, which
allows the patient privacy as they work on their
individualized exercise programs.
